About Me
Hello, and welcome to Rosewood Therapy. My name is Catherine, and I am a fully qualified counsellor with over seven years of experience working closely with children, young people, adults and their families. I founded Rosewood Therapy out of a passion for creating a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental space where everyone can be supported through life’s most difficult challenges and transitions.
My Background
Over the past seven years, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents and adults facing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health issues. These include:
- Anxiety and depression
- Self-harm and suicidal ideation
- Behavioural and emotional regulation difficulties
- Trauma and abuse
- Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE)
- Gang involvement and youth violence
- The impact of social media and digital pressure
My experience has taught me that every person has a story, and often that story hasn’t yet been given the space or safety to be heard. At Rosewood Therapy, I offer a calm and confidential environment where that story can begin to unfold, and healing can start.
My Approach
I work from a person-centred, trauma-informed perspective, meaning I place my clients at the heart of everything I do. I focus on building trust and connection, recognising the importance of relationship-based work—particularly when supporting those who may have experienced disrupted attachments or adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Sessions are tailored to the individual, whether that’s through creative therapies, talking therapy, or more structured interventions.
I also bring a strong understanding of the impact of the online world. With experience in social media safety and mental health training, I can support people in navigating the pressures and risks associated with digital spaces, while helping them build resilience and self-esteem offline.
Community & Voluntary Work
In addition to my therapeutic work, I have always been passionate about contributing to the wider community. I have volunteered with individuals who have learning difficulties and those from low-income households, supporting practical skills such as cooking and day-to-day living. I’ve seen how these small but important interventions can help foster independence, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
I also have a background in youth theatre, where I witnessed the powerful role of creativity, expression, and group support in building emotional resilience. I believe the arts can offer a vital outlet for young people who may struggle to express themselves through traditional talking therapies.
Why Rosewood Therapy?
At Rosewood Therapy, I have created a calm and welcoming space that reflects my core values: compassion, integrity, and empowerment. The rosewood tree symbolises strength, healing, and growth—qualities I aim to nurture in the people I work with. I understand how difficult it can be for families to seek support, and I am here to walk alongside you in that journey, offering guidance, understanding, and professional care.
Whether it is you or your child is struggling with anxiety, caught in patterns of self-harm, feeling lost or overwhelmed, or facing challenges you’re not sure how to name yet—please know that support is available.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. If you would like to discuss how I can support you or your child, please feel free to get in touch. I’m here to help.
Warm wishes,
Catherine
