Rosewood Therapy

Counselling Agreement For Children and Young People

Please read carefully and ask any questions you may have before signing.

Hi, and welcome to Rosewood Therapy. This agreement helps you and your parent/carer understand how counselling works with me, Catherine, your counsellor. I'm here to support you in a safe, private, and respectful way.

How I Work

I use a mix of counselling approaches, based mostly on person-centred therapy, which means you’ll be listened to and supported in a way that suits you and your needs.

Session Details

Length: 45 minutes

How often: Usually once a week (we’ll agree what works best)

Where: Online or face-to-face – we’ll confirm this when we chat

Cost: £60 per session

Payment: To be paid at least 24 hours before the session via bank transfer (details will be shared securely)

Cancellations: If you cancel less than 24 hours before a session, the full session fee may still need to be paid

Coming to Counselling

To get the most out of counselling, I ask that you:

Try to attend sessions regularly

Let me know in advance if you can’t make it

Be as open and honest as you can

Respect the counselling space and your own boundaries

Confidentiality – What You Say Is Private

What we talk about in sessions stays private. But there are some times when I may need to share something:

If I think you or someone else is at serious risk of harm

If a child or vulnerable adult is in danger

If I'm required by law (e.g. serious crimes or court orders)

I also speak to a supervisor (someone who supports my work), but I never use your name or personal details

Even if you’re under 18, I won’t automatically tell your parent or carer what you say. But if I’m worried about your safety, I may need to speak to them or someone else who can help – and I’ll try to talk to you about this first.

Notes and Records

I write short notes after sessions to help remember what's been talked about. These are kept safely and don’t include your full name

Notes are stored securely in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018

You (or your parent/carer) can ask to see them by making a written request

Records are kept for 7 years after you turn 18 – this is required by law and for insurance purposes

You can also ask for changes to be made if something like your name or address changes

Supervision

To make sure I’m doing my job properly and safely, I speak with a supervisor about my work. I never use names or any details that could identify you.

Safeguarding

I have a duty to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults. If I’m worried you or someone else isn’t safe, I may need to contact services like Children’s Services. I’ll always aim to talk to you about this before taking action.

Finishing Counselling

You can choose to stop counselling at any time.
It’s helpful to talk about this before finishing, so we can plan an ending that feels right for you.
I may also end counselling if it’s not in your best interest to continue.

Online or Phone Counselling

If we meet online:

We’ll use a secure video service like Microsoft Teams

Please try to be in a quiet, private place

If there's a tech problem, we’ll sort it out fairly

You (and your parent/carer) will be asked to sign a separate online agreement

Emergencies

Rosewood Therapy is not an emergency service.
If you ever need urgent help, please contact:

Your GP or NHS 111

Call 999 in an emergency

Samaritans: 116 123 (open 24/7)

Childline (under 19s): 0800 1111 (free and confidential)

Emergency Contact Info

You’ll be asked to give an emergency contact – usually a parent or carer.
This is only used if I'm really worried about your safety.
I’ll talk to you first wherever possible before contacting them.

Complaints

If something’s not working for you:

Please talk to me about it – I’ll always try to listen and help

If things still don’t feel right, your parent or carer can contact my professional body: NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society)
